Trick-or-Treat in East Brandywine Township

Trick or Treat

Trick-or-Treat in East Brandywine Township has always been observed on Halloween, October 31st, between 6 PM and 8 PM. Due to COVID-19 concerns, we suggest that Township residents consider the continued safety of their family members, and those persons they may visit during these challenging times.

For residents who choose to have their children participate in Trick-or Treat, we recommend the ghouls, goblins and heroes remain in their neighborhoods.  The standard practice is to keep your front porch light on if you are participating in Halloween, and to turn it off if you are not going to participate. Please be respectful of your neighbors.

Consider the following guidelines:

  • Wear a cloth mask and maintain a 6-foot distance when around people you do not live with.
  • A costume mask is not an adequate face covering.
  • Do not wear a costume mask over a protective cloth mask. This can make breathing difficult.
  • Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer.
  • If you or someone in your family is sick, or you have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19, please stay home.
  • If you choose to welcome trick-or-treaters, wear a mask and gloves.
  • Do not allow participants to reach into a bowl of treats. Hand the treat to each person.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention webpage for Holiday Celebrations has additional advice on celebrating Halloween safely.

If you are looking for alternatives to door-to-door trick-or-treat activities, East Brandywine Baptist Church is hosting a drive-thru Halloween event. The Baptist Church Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, October 31st from 3 to 5 PM.
