Section 607 of the Second Class Township Code charges the Board of Supervisors with the general governance of the Township and gives the Board both legislative and executive powers. The Board exercises its legislative functions by setting policy, enacting ordinances, adopting budgets, and levying taxes. The Board also performs all executive functions such as formulating the budget, providing for ordinance enforcement, approving expenses, and hiring and overseeing employees.
Township Supervisors generally serve a term of six years. The successful appointee for this vacancy will serve as Township Supervisor until January 1, 2022. This represents only a portion of the remaining term of former Supervisor Kenneth Ader. The individual who will serve the remaining four years of this term will be determined by the results of the November 2021 election.
Applicants are required to attend the regularly scheduled meeting of the Board on July 16, 2020 at 6:30 PM. Due to restrictions on large gatherings due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this meeting may be held via webinar. Meetings of the Board of Supervisors are typically held at the Township Offices located at 1214 Horseshoe Pike.
The meeting will be recorded for rebroadcast on the Township’s YouTube channel.
Applicants should prepare to make a presentation at the meeting, not to exceed 5 minutes, stating why you would like to serve and what qualities you would bring to the Board.
All deliberations of the applicants’ strengths will occur as part of the public meeting.
