Outdoor Burning  (< Back)

How do I obtain a Burning Permit?
You may obtain a Burning Permit through Scott T. Piersol, East Brandywine Township Fire Marshall. Please contact him at 610-269-8230. Mr. Piersol must schedule an appoint to see the proposed burning site and provide education for all residents applying for their first Burning Permit

What materials can be burned with a Burning Permit?  What materials are prohibited from being burned?
Generally, permits are issued to burn brush, twigs and branches too small to be chipped and leaves. Whenever possible, we prefer branches and leaves to be disposed of through our Chipping and Leaf Collection programs. Prohibited items include tree stumps and building/construction materials. If you are not certain if it is permissible to burn a certain item, please check with the Fire Marshall.

Can I burn in a barrel without a burning permit?
Yes. Again, you are prohibited from burning tree stumps and building/construction materials.
